Greedy Hen pecha's your kucha

We're rather excited to announce that Greedy Hen have been invited to speak at the famous Pecha Kucha night this thursday at Sydney's Chalk Horse Gallery.

We're fairly amped and have been stretching it out in preparation.

now what exactly is Pecha Kucha? we hear you mumble over your shrugging shoulders and glazed cherry facial expression...

well young chum, Pecha Kucha (which is Japanese for the sound of conversation) is a creative forum held in over 182 cities across the globe, where creatives are asked to speak and present their work and ideas. As everyone knows, give a mike to a designer (especially an architect) you’ll be trapped for hours. So the magical key to what makes Pecha Kucha Night so special is that each presenter is only allowed to show 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of stage time before the next presenter is up. Genius!

Thursday April 2nd 6.30pm Chalk Horse Gallery, 94 Cooper Street, Surry Hills, nsw 2010.

Greedy Hen were recently asked to create an artwork for fashion label Zimmermann. the work is now being shown printed rather humongously at the Fashion Loves Art exhibition for Melbourne Fashion Week at LMFF Festival Bar, Shed 9, 161 Harbour esplanade, Docklands, Melbourne. then the artwork will take up residency at Westfield Doncaster for 2 weeks along with works by Beci Orpin and Max Doyle*

(*foot note: MD also plays in our favourite band Songs, who are currently recording a new album, and we're so excited about that we're practically combusting!!)

Rose Quartz

We made a banner for the kids at Rose Quartz music blog. it's pretty explosive, gemstones in your eyeball, rainbow connection vibes...

Rose Quartz is all our favourite music musings in one place, like a big fat musical jamboree party-time educational filofax.

it's written by word wizards Richard Macfarlane and Max Lavergne, who are equally excitable as us about such things, so therefore get secret handshakes and high fives a plenty from Greedy Hen.

our hearts will explode with joy like a grenade.

it's finally here! Greedy Hen's art exhibition is THIS FRIDAY at China Heights Gallery with fellow art collective duo 'We Buy Your Kids'.

it's seriously over the top, and HUGE, some of the works are actually bigger than us! (physically and metaphysically)

It would mean the world to us if you could make it along, our hearts will explode with joy. Ouch!

party on Wayne!

.....below is the gallery's write up about the show.

Greedy Hen and Webuyyourkids have been making band posters seperately in Sydney for years now. They find themselves at the same openings, the same parties, the same shows. Their posters are displayed in the same shop windows and on the same poles. They have frequently exhibited in the same group exhibitions.

But now they are jointly taking over China Heights for BLACK MAGIC TRICKS - a collection of works from both duos dealing with electricity, bones, the black magical, the powerful, adventures, jungles, hunting, spirits, fools gold, the death march, the whacked out, the untouchable and the indescribable. What does that mean? Best go to the opening on Friday 6th Feb and find out.

we'll be your shelter

It occurred to us a few days ago as we were sheltering from the pouring rain under a soggy street press magazine, huddled beneath the soft grey pulpy mess of wet inky pages... that there's quite a few little interviews and musings about Greedy Hen out in the world right now.

So if you're keen to get all literary or just enjoy drawing moustaches and male appendages onto our faces...

There's some interviews and articals in the current issues of The Brag, Das Superpaper, and Attitude Magazines.

we also made some artwork for a two page spread in The Pleasures Of The Damned Zine, which looks hell amazing and features pretty much everyone who we love and think is rad! but more about that when it comes out in the world. good work
